Presence and Position Detection of Painted Car Doors with Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

In automotive production, painted car doors are guided to processing stations via electric overhead conveyors. Laser distance sensors time of flight are installed on the overhead track beams to check the presence and correct positioning of the doors in the suspension gear. Thanks to wintec, the sensor measures precisely even on glossy or black surfaces. The measuring function thus enables presence detection so that upstream and downstream production steps can be controlled without errors.

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
